The Farm Experience: Educational Days at Colchester Farm
Colchester Farm CSA will be offering half-day educational experiences for children. This is an opportunity for youth to be a part of the farm for a day and learn more about food and farming. Our Farm Educator, John Arbuckle, will lead these fun-filled days. Examples of farm activities include: collecting egss from our chickens, hiking to a view of Great Blue Heron nests, investigating decompositon and compost, playing games, trying to hypnotize a chicken, and tasting fresh picked vegetables. The program dates are:
The Cherry Tomatoes, June 28: open to children aged 5-7
The Cherokee Purples, July 19: Open to children aged 8-10
Moon and Stars, August 2: Open to children aged 11-13
Programs run from 9am to 12:30p.m. (Minimum 5 children; limit 15 children per experience.) Please bring a lunch for you child. We are asking for a donation of $5 to $20 per child, at your descretion. Adult chaperons are free. You must register your child to participate. Donations are not refundable if you are unable to attend. (In the event of severe weather, the farm experience will be re-scheduled.) To reserve a spot, please send your donation, the child's name and age, and contact information to:
